The Story of SEOmoz

Posted on April 14, 2011

There is an amazing post at SEOmoz right now detailing the story of SEOmoz and how it came to be the SEO powehouse that it is today. The post was based on transcripts and videos that Robin Good, creator of Master New Media took. Anybody who is struggling to piece together a business, or wants to pursue entrepreneurship needs to read this in full. SEOmoz has always impressed me with the level of transparency they have. Many times they release info or give perspectives that others would simply keep to themselves and use as a competitive advantage. This post does a good job describing the culture of the company and why sharing this powerful information on SEO has positioned the company where it is today.

Google Places Integration – Sanity at last

A few days ago, Google did something brilliant – they finally merged the 7 pack of map listings with the rest of the organic results. This has created a lot of confusion but this post from searchengineland does a great of summing up what is the heck is going on with Google Places. I personally was getting very tired of the very spammy tactics that marketers were using on the maps. It seems as though it is a bit tougher to game the maps and more holistic approaches like the type I LOVE, are being rewarded. Check out the search engine land post and see what you make of this shake up of Google Places.
